[Notes]
I've only included the chords for now but Bruce Langhorne used the Travis picking
technique on this recording, with the thumb playing alternating bass notes and the 1st
and middle fingers playing the 3rd, 2nd and 1st strings. (Langhorne lost his ring and
little fingers in a childhood accident.)
Dylan used the same chords (with capo on 1) in Boots of Spanish Leather on the album
Don’t Think Twice. In live recordings Dylan tends to play Em7/D (X54030) instead of
the Em9, and C major (X32010) instead of D7/F#.
The chords listed below for the harmonica parts are the chords for the guitar not the
harmonica.

[Verse]
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
If you’re travelin’ in the north country fair
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G G
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Em Em C/G G C/G G
Remember me to one who lives there
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G G G
She once was a true love of mine
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
If you go when the snowflakes storm
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
When the rivers freeze and summer ends
Em Em C/G G C/G G
Please see she has a coat so warm
Em9 Em9 D7 C/G G G D9/F# G G
To keep her from the howlin’ winds
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
Please see if her hair hangs long,
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G
If it rolls and flows all down her breast.
Em Em C/G G C/G G
Please see for me if her hair’s hanging long,
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G G G G G
For that’s the way I remember her best.
Em9 Em9 D7/F# G C/G G
I’m a-wonderin’ if she remembers me at all
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G G
Many times I’ve often prayed
Em Em C/G G C/G G
In the darkness of my night
Em9 Em9 D7 G C/G G G
In the brightness of my day
